George Fornero in Deerfield, Illinois Updated April 4, 2007 George Fornero (who skipped town just as the fruits of his mismanagement were being realized in the form of multi-million dollar deficits, a new high school at least a year late in opening and overbudget, and a district in chaos) got a job in the unsuspecting town of Deerfield, Illinois. The AAPS Board gave him glowing complements even though no one student, parent, or principal spoke to praise him. Now the Board is blaming him for all they oversaw. In Deerfield District 113, George Fornero is up to his usual activities. In less than one year, he has already succeeded in alientating parents, students, and his own Board. There is a group of extremely conservative parents in Deerfield who believe that the school district is promoting a "gay agenda". While we at CRS are not at all in agreement with these parents' fear and intolerance or their attempts to prevent discussion of issues important to gay students, it is not surprising that George Fornero has bungled the situtation by asking students not to talk to their parents about what happens at school. It is also not surprising that he has managed to create a complete breakdown of trust in his new home district. Read what the right-wing press is saying about Deerfield.
